For real now

Ok, I fell off my jan goal of starting 3 things I'm thankful for every day. I'm starting again, now. Consistent action, that's what it takes.
1.) I'm so grateful for experiences that throw your flaws in your face and help you be a better person.

2.) So grateful for my cuddly cat, even thigh she pooed and peed on my bed while I was in the states (revenge?).

3.) So grateful that the internet can help us connect. May it always be free!

Jan 3rd Dear camera on my phone, You're so convenient, and I get so many great pictures now. Back in 2005 my stupid ex boyfriend said that they'd never be able to make a phone, mp3 player and camera in one gadget that all worked correctly. Boy was he an idiot! You work perfectly, little phone camera, and i love you. Dear plane/car combo that brought my 85 year old Grandma safely from California to Utah today, Isn't it freaking amazing that an 85 year old can complete that kind of trip? A hundred years ago it would have been a dusty, uncomfortable, hazardous endeavor, and now Grandma can do it by herself in a couple of hours, so all of her family can see her for the Christmas season. Isn't modern living amazing? Dear facebook, Thanks for helping my organize and store all my photos and videos in an easily accessible way so I can show my 85 year old grandma everything after she flew through the air earlier today- seriously, modern living is amazing. Anyways, she asked what was going on in my life, and since her hearing aids are acting up, it was so much easier to show her rather than tell her, using all those pics on you, facebook. I know you're an asshole and you've got all my info and you're using facial recognition to track my every move, but what the hell, you also offer some pretty compelling free services. Thanks for that! Jan 2nd Dear big brother, I'm so glad that we can have interesting conversations lasting long into the night. I was actually nervous that something might have changed over the last 2 years, and maybe we wouldn't be able to do it, but we did and it was glorious. So grateful to have that kind of a connection with family members. Dear grilled cheese, You, sir, are a fantastic culinary masterpiece. Thank you for existing. Especially with tomato basil soup. Dear indoor central heating, Taiwan rarely has you, and boy is there a difference! I love feeling comfortable indoors! I know you're bad for the environment and we all need to have smaller, more energy efficient houses, but daaaang son I'm so glad I haven't been shivering inside here the way I do in my apartment in Taiwan!

Happy New Year!

Jan 1st and I'm off to the races! I'll write down three new things I'm grateful for every day this month. Dear Momma, It's been so nice to visit you. I love talking to you. You're so accepting of anything I want to do or say, and you've let me be lazy since I've been here. It's so nice having someone kind of dote on me. I mean, there're a billion and one things to thank you for and I'm trying to keep it simple. I just hope you know how much I love you! Dear Snowflakes, You guys are so kick ass. Seriously. From far away you look like fluffy little specks but close up, each one of you is an intricate, delicate design that rivals the beauty of anything else I've ever seen. I wish I could take time to appreciate every one of you. Keep on rockin! Dear neighbors of my Mom, Grandma and Aunt, Thank you for shoveling the yard. Thank you for bringing over soup, dropping off gift baskets, poinsettias, cards, food etc. I'm so grateful that my Mom, Aunt and Grandma have a caring and loving network of friends in this neighborhood they live in. It's so good to know I don't have to worry about them. Thank you!
